Jewelry was stolen from the Swiss masters stand at the Masterpiece Art Fair.
The police do not exclude the possibility that robbery took place while the fair was open to public. Investigators believe that it was performed by professionals who could use distraction techniques to steal precious stones. Unfortunately, there is not a single witness of the robbery.
The fair proved itself as "the leading international event for viewing and buying the best works of art, from antiquity to actual days" earlier; for this reason, the building is guarded 24 hours.
One of the Masterpiece staff commented: "I'm very surprised that this happened. It's like the movie "The Pink Panther" or something like that."
While other employee of the neighboring stand, Alan Wheatley, said that the gallery already had a similar incident that took place back in 2015.
"We were stolen an item from the similar Fair two years ago," he said. "I think that the security organization here is very good, but if someone decided to do something, he will do it."
The representatives of Masterpiece stated that they "fully cooperate with the police investigation", adding that they "take the safety of the fair and the objects very seriously".
